The ideal old-fashioned. A hotly debated topic on who makes it perfectly and what exactly goes into the best one. Rye or bourbon? Sugar cube or simple syrup? Lemon peel, orange peel or cherry? I’m not here to argue, but rather I humbly submit to you a darn good old-fashioned recipe. Cheers friends.
COLLIN’S OLD-FASHIONED:
- Inspired by J and Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned
- Yields: 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. TX bourbon
- 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 dashes Fee Brothers West Indian orange bitters
- Orange peel
Directions:
- Measure all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds and pour into an old fashioned tumbler glass with an ice cube or two. Serve with an orange peel. Tip: twist the orange peel back and forth before adding to the glass; this helps the orange release some of its essential oils into the cocktail.
